Hella amazing... (that's a pun, btw.)

Quite a concept for furniture, I'm not sure if one is actually expected to carry this on their back, but I'm loving the innovation.
"Designer Hella Jongerius (1963) has become known for the special way she fuses industry and craft, high and low tech, tradition and the contemporary. "
... hail Hella.

This Is Where We Live from 4th Estate on Vimeo.

"A film for 4th Estate Publishers' 25th Anniversary. Produced by Apt Studio and Asylum Films.

The film was produced in stop-motion over 3 weeks in Autumn 2008. Each scene was shot on a home-made dolly by an insane bunch of animators; you can see time-lapse films of each sequence being prepared and shot in our other films. "

Apart from creating things, what do you do?

"Oh, I imagine I’m just like everyone else. I check pockets. I roll socks . I give tips. I skip pages. I fall asleep. I turn it off. I give directions. I scroll down. I make sure its even. I leave it out. I lock eyes. I write it down. I say thank you. I walk away. I pretend laugh. I for real cry. I say I voted. I wonder if he really loves me."

- etsy interview with yokoo (featured seller)... rad answer.

matthew croft gets crafty.

interesting typographic exploration by matthew croft. ... i dig . : )

"the following documents an isometric grid consisting of hundreds of nails, around which string and lace were wrapped in order to produce typographic illustrations. the grid attempts not to restrict, but to restrain the typographic forms produced by the user - whilst allowing for 'expressive' and distinct solutions, cohesion is maintain throughout.

the final image suggests how such outcomes could work in digital form."

passage quilts.

"Begining with the architecture of the clothing, these quilts are pieced without a predetermined pattern. This process provides the maker an opportunity to examine his or her life patterns.

The resulting quilts reflect the relationship of the maker to the materials, retain a sense of the body, and in the case of bereavement, carry the consoling essence of the beloved."
